The typical bright summer tropical shirts are labeled as tacky tourist shirts but what if we took the tacky look and made it stylish. I really like this shirt because it has orange buttons instead of a traditional brown and is a crop tie tee. The tie gives it a retro look and strays away from the tourist look. I paired it with the dark denim high waisted shorts for some vintage feel. My accessories are a white rubber watch, a recycled newspaper green necklace and silver sequin Sperry's.
Challenge: Brighten up these spring days with a Hawaiian touch :) whether you add a sea shell necklace, some strappy sandals or the "tacky" floral shirt.
Oh the Things You Can Wear
Style is your own personal representation of yourself and though fashion changes; hopefully the trend reflects you some way, some how.

Preppy or Retro
I consider my style a mixture of preppy and retro. I am a sucker for vintage, anything rustic. I love old-timey things that have meaning and culture. But I also love sweet and clean looks that come off as preppy or country club.
The pass few weeks I have been trying to wear things that are more unique and have a story to tell. But I can't break away from my clean look.
Today I buttoned my shirt all the way up to get an ultra preppy or dorky look. For the retro part of me, I wore the button chambray top with vertical striped pants. These pants have a very nice slimming effect, I highly suggest every lady invest!
This week try to wear a piece of clothing that has a story, jewelry does this nicely since many of our pieces are vintage. The necklace I am wearing below is a Valentine's gift from my mom.

Spring Fling
Pastels, Neutrals, Neons, Spring has it all! I am so happy to bring out my navy and white staples. Spring's must have items are white, navy and black. These are colors are so versatile. Black and white has a classic look that will never go old. Navy and white are colors that scream warm weather. Navy and white perk up my mood and help me finish strongly since I know summer is close. These classic colors can be put with any color and creates a fun bold look. I love navy and white with coral.
My look below is a crocheted navy and white striped sweater from Delia*s with coral shorts also from Delia*s, my necklace is silver and navy from American Eagle, my watch is a simple white rubber one which I love it's simplicity for summer and spring and for my shoes I wore my sequined silver Sperry's. The shoes made the look fun since they are very glamorous with all the shine.
Have a fabulous spring! Upload your favorite spring staples and outfits. :)

Free Spirited
Wake up every morning and think of your body as a canvas and your wardrobe as the tools. Every time we put on an outfit, it's a piece of artwork. Express yourself. The outfit below is not my normal wear but I feel in love with the look. It's a preppy meets retro look which is how I find my personality to be. If we put ourselves into our outfits, it shows who we are. That's why designers' designs are special, they are pieces from their heart.
Tomorrow morning, take out something a little different and you to mix it up. Be confident about how you look.
I am wearing thrifted high waisted shorts, a silk tank top, pastel bow flats, the tie from the blouse is my make shift belt, a rubber white watch and a floral crown.

I am on BlogLovin
I am normally not a fan of beanies on myself but I felt like it really completed this festive typical pink duo. I wore a pink, purple and off white sweater skirt with a fitted yet chunky pink sweater. I wore a gold bracelet, ring and necklace with a black watch. I topped it off with the off white beanie and fuchsia shoes from my previous post. Have a fabulous day!

Dolled Up
Yesterday being my fancy/formal Friday, I wore black tights, black flare skirt, a white and black polka dot sweater with my DIY Peter Pan collar. I accessorized with black boots, black watch and pearl earrings.

Roaring Wild
My favorite printed pants have to be my cheetah ones, most people expect pants with the cheetah print but not the actual animal! I have mixed prints with this, such as stripes with the pants but this day I just wore a black 3 quarter sleeve top with a homemade necklace that is ceramic with a cross on it, I had on my favorite black chandelier earrings, black watch and black flats.

Last Saturday's High
Last Saturday I wore thrifted high waisted shorts, a plain black long sleeve shirt with a Peter Pan collar necklace that I made, I had on a black watch, black chandelier earrings and leopard flats with studs on them. This outfit was a little out of my typical girly flirty style, I have been trying to take more chances and do things a little differently.

Best Spot in LA
I went to the Grove in Los Angeles, CA. It was absolutely magical, they had fake snow going since it was winter in Cali and there were Christmas lights, a marvelous Christmas tree and a fountain right in the middle. It was a great experience. They had the designer high end stores but also stores like Forever 21 and Anthropologie. It was a good mix of shops. If you ever get a chance to go to LA, the Grove is the must place to go, to dine and shop. :)

Fly Fly Away
Birds, this print is so cute and girly. Today I wore a flutter sleeve bird printed dress. The birds are green on a navy sky with white little dots everywhere. I wore this with silver earrings, a silver necklace, 2 silver bracelets and Sperry silver sequin shores. I also had on a aqua blue glass pendent on a rope necklace to give the completely girly look a little edge. The boat shoes also dress down the dress since they are more casual.

High Waisted Shorts
The other day it felt like summer here, mid 80s, the sun was shining. I was going to be dying in a sweater and cords. My new favorite types of shorts are high waisted ones. They can bring a curvy shape to your body since it focuses on the waist and they can give you a bottom which not all of us are fortunate to have. Here I paired thrifted Lee shorts with a black and white studded stripped top from Zara. For accessories I wore my black watch, black chandelier earrings and black flats.
Fun DIY:
High Waisted Shorts: find an old pair of high waisted momma jeans and cut them off to make uber cute cut offs that are perfect for the summer and spring time. If you leave in California or Florida then you can wear them all the time!

Long and Short
Here in Florida, I never know what the weather is going to feel like, so of it is a 70s degree day I pair either shorts and a long sleeved top together or just the opposite pants with a short sleeve top. Here I paired a black and white polka dot sweater from the Loft with linen burgundy shorts from the Gap. Even though the shorts are a summer material their dark color gives it a winter look along paired with a sweater. I wore my standard must have black watch with it.

Wild
This fall and winter, I have been crazy about some wild things. I love these printed cheetah jeans. Normally we see the leopard print but not an actual animal all over the jeans. They also have a gold detailing on the sides which adds some pop. These I purchased at Zara.
In 2012 Peplum was a huge craze and I do not want to see it go. I am welcoming it to 2013. I paired the simple black peplum top with a silver zipper back with the pants. It mixed gold and silver which is becoming more popular now.
